A Thankful Heart
Mike’s Meandering, November 2024 ~ A Thankful Heart
November is upon us and Fall is in full swing. You can see God’s amazing creativity all around us. The colors of Fall always excite and impress me. We see a color spectrum that only happens at this time of year.
This year Fall was even more exciting for Laurie and I. We were able to move into our new home. We love it! We are slowing getting things unpacked and put on the walls, and that’s okay. Some nights we have chosen to relax and reflect on how blessed we are.
I have a thankful heart because many of you helped us not only with our move or provided food but also because a lot of you have poured into our ministry. I have a thankful heart because Laurie is an amazing wife and ministry partner. I am blessed beyond measure by all the ways she has been there for me. I have a thankful heart because God loves me! He sent His only Son to take my sins away and yours as well.
Let me share a passage of scripture that has encouraged and challenged me to live more like Jesus. It has helped me have a thankful heart.
Colossians 3:12-17
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
If you are a faithful follower of Jesus, you have been chosen by God. You are holy and beloved! I love the imagery of singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. My prayer is that we will all put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and bear each other’s burdens and celebrate each other’s joys.
What are you thankful for? Ponder on that as we enter this month of thanksgiving.
Sharing my thankful heart, Mike
