A Light to Guide Us
The best way I can put it is like this; it has been a rough couple of months for our community. That has been on my mind as I have been meandering. Now more than ever we need to seek God’s wisdom and encouragement.
That’s what I will be doing in this column today. Letting you hear from God so you can allow God’s word to guide you! Let these passages encourage you.
Psalm 119:105-112 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. 106 I have sworn and I will confirm it, That I will keep Your righteous ordinances. 107 I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. 108 O accept the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, And teach me Your ordinances. 109 My life is continually [ax]in my hand, Yet I do not forget Your law. 110 The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not gone astray from Your precepts. 111 I have inherited Your testimonies forever, For they are the joy of my heart. 112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, even to the end.
Galatians 6:9-10 9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
Romans 12:9-17 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.
I hope these scriptures have encouraged you. Never forget that God loves you and that He wants you to shine His light to everyone you come in contact with. Whenever you are struggling let God’s Word, the Bible, encourage and strengthen you. Remember what it said in our Psalms passage, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
