Back to…

Mike’s Meanderings ~ August 2024

That’s right, it’s August, the “back to” month! Back to so many different things.

Back to school. Back to being home more. Back to church. Back to your routine.

Vacations are ending and summer breaks are ending. It’s time to get back to our routines. Some will jump back into their routine and others will start new ones. Which one will you be doing? Realistically we don’t have a choice to be in a routine or not, it just happens. It is intentional for some of us and accidental for others. So, what will you be getting back to? Can you do both? Possibly, but you will become very overwhelmed or have a lack of focus on what truly matters.

We all need to get back to God and the Bible. I know some of you haven’t stopped. But for many it has been hard enough just keeping up with summer activities and your families. Let me encourage you to get back to the fellowship with others that love God. Getting back to church is an amazing way to have fellowship with God and others. You will receive encouragement and be able to encourage others. I feed off the excitement of others sharing about their relationship with God. Sharing the joys and struggles of trying to follow Jesus is a blessing and encouragement for each of us.

1 John 1:1-7:

1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— 2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

What an encouragement from John! Let his words motivate and excite you as you create a new routine and strengthen your relations ship with Jesus!

I hope you are as excited as I am about small groups starting soon and worshipping with others. Keep your eyes open for new small group studies beginning and opportunities to help with youth group and other activities around the church that happen outside of our Sunday morning worship.

Looking forward to seeing you in church, Mike
