Mike’s Meandering ~ I’m so excited!

I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it! That’s how the eighties song goes by the Pointer Sisters. But that is how I feel as we continue to get closer to Resurrection Sunday! Starting in Luke 19 all the way to the end of his book in chapter 24 we read about all that happens from the beginning of Holy Week with the triumphal entry, Lord’s Supper, Jesus’ crucifixion, Jesus’ burial, and then finally His resurrection! How can I not be excited about what Jesus did for me that amazing day!

Are you excited?

If you are like me at first glance, I am not that excited because of what Jesus and His disciples go through those seven days that we call Holy Week. It was quite a roller coaster for them in many ways. From the joy and jubilation of Jesus entering Jerusalem to the chants that John recorded, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel” on what we call Palm Sunday to Golgotha and Jesus being nailed to the cross on what we call Good Friday. Then we have the silence and unknown until the amazing power of Jesus coming back to life on what is often called Easter or Resurrection Sunday! WOW, that’s a lot, isn’t it?

My prayer is that you will take the opportunity to join us in worship throughout Holy Week. We will have worship at the Church of Christ on Palm Sunday at 10:00 am, Good Friday at 7:00 pm, and Resurrection Sunday at 9:00 am. You are also welcome to join me in worship at the United Church on Maundy Thursday at 7:00 pm.
