Unsung Hero
I don’t usually promote movies in my meanderings, but I thought this one was really worth promoting as we approach Mother’s Day!
The movie is titled “Unsung Hero,” by For King and Country. It is about Luke and Joel Smallbone’s family. They were raised in Sydney, Australia by their concert promoter father David Smallbone and his wife Helen. A tour that David Smallbone organized went wrong, resulting in the family losing everything, so in 1991 they relocated to Nashville. "Unsung Hero" honors the Smallbone's parents' journey, as they recall the sacrifices they made in supporting their children's musical ambitions, and molding them into the men they are now. Their older sister was the first to become popular in the Christian music industry. Her name (stage name) is Rebecca St. James.
"We came to America broke, and it forced us to really bond as a family," said Luke Smallbone. "We were all Australians in a new country, we all talked weird. Our family has five boys and two girls and we've all just had each other's backs."
This movie will be in theaters Friday, April 26th. I would encourage everyone to go watch it. It will truly encourage you!
Here are the lyrics to the song and here is a link to listen to it, https://youtu.be/Favk8UgilZI?si=FH8tajB-pDEc4N-Q
Once upon a time, you were twenty-five
Walkin' up the aisle, you made the promise of your life
Blinked twice and you were twenty-nine
Singing lullabies, and I looked up at you for the first time
Words fall short but I am sure
There'll never be anyone like you
Woke up, I was twenty-one, and I fell in love
Remember how I told you that I'd
Searched the world and I found the girl
And oh, how she reminds me of you, you're
Strong like your father even when you are scared
When I was in trouble, you never left me there
And you love like your mother, like there's nothing to lose
You're an unsung hero, so I'll sing this song for you
Take time this month to honor your mom and thank God for her. One way we can honor our mom’s is by loving God and loving our families. If you have had a rough family life let God help you become the person, He wants you to be. It is never too late to honor God with your life and in turn inspire others to do the same!
Thank you Lord for blessing me with an amazing mom, Mike
