A Time for Everything

Written June 2024 - Written by Mike Cooper

Summer is quickly coming upon us, isn’t it? Life seems to keep moving at a record pace. School is out and now there is summer sports, vacation, VBS, Fair and so many other things to prepare for. It can really become overwhelming, but we’ve been here before, correct? Every year we face it. I want to encourage you to approach this summer a little bit differently. Let’s find a way to put our trust in God first and foremost and then tackle everything else!

In the Old Testament, specifically in Ecclesiastes, Solomon wrote that there is a time for everything. Let me share what he wrote. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)…

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heave

2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.

3 A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.

4 A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.

5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.                         A time to embrace and a time to turn away

6 A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away.

7 A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

8 A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

Solomon was a very wise man. In 1 Kings 3:9, Solomon asked God for an understanding heart to be able to judge God’s people to be able to discern between good and evil. WOW, what an amazing, unselfish request! That is the kind of man that wrote this passage in Ecclesiastes. He learned a lot through his time as king. Solomon wasn’t perfect, he made mistakes just like we have.

I don’t know what is going on in your life as you are reading this, but God does.         Maybe life is the best it has ever been for you, or  possibly you feel at your lowest. For most of us we  are probably somewhere in the middle. I pray that you are encouraged by this passage today. Let it give you a better understanding that God will be with you always and there is a time for everything.

There is a time for everything under heaven.

Let’s thank God for what He is teaching us as we experience life together!

Thanking God with you, Mike
